Image Converter
Drop an image into the box, or click to choose one; pick a target format on the right and resize by percentage or longest side if needed. The whole pipeline runs on a local canvas — the image is never uploaded, and changing a setting re-runs the conversion. The three sections below describe what that costs, because none of it raises an error.

Re-encoding always costs something
PNG to PNG is lossless — pixels and size are untouched. As soon as the target is JPEG it is lossy: the encoder throws away detail it considers unimportant, and it does so every time you save. A JPEG converted to PNG and back to JPEG is worse than the original. This page converts once and never re-encodes internally.
Metadata is dropped
A canvas redraw carries no metadata at all: the EXIF orientation tag, capture time, GPS, colour profile, ICC data, animation frames — all gone. That is worth stating plainly, because "the exported image came out rotated" and "the colours look different" both start here.
Resizing is irreversible
Shrink and scale back up and you get a blurry image, not the original. This page keeps no copy and offers no undo — save the result under a new name rather than overwriting the original.
Questions
No, and neither does the browser. Desktop Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot decode HEIC/HEIF, and this page uses the browser’s own decoder. On an iPhone switch Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible" (JPEG), or export through the system once.
Because your browser cannot encode WebP. canvas.toBlob silently falls back to PNG when the requested type is unsupported — no error, no warning. This page reads the actual MIME type back and says so, instead of handing you a file named .webp containing PNG data.
No. Decoding, resizing and encoding all happen in the browser with no network requests. It works offline.
Because PNG is lossless and JPEG is lossy. A photo compressed to 300 KB as JPEG can take 5 MB as PNG — that is not a failed conversion, that is what a lossless format costs. Choose WebP or JPEG if size matters.
